West Cumbria seems to be getting more than its fair share of gales and rain, today looks a bit more promising, blue sky and only a breeze, not too cold either.
The Solway Firth, strangely perhaps, seems fairly calm, the wind's been more South to East, which means it's blowing off-shore for a change.
River Derwent, on the other hand, has been threatening to flood, a dirty brown colour and angry-looking.
The stores seem to have quietened down a bit after a couple of weeks bedlam, looking at some trolleys piled high with all manner of delicacies, I suppose most people have got enough supplies in to last them until the January pay-day.
2014 was heralded by a few fireworks, observed in the distance, not a big display and only briefly at midnight, don't suppose anybody wanted to be out, a cold wet windy night it was.
The weather doesn't seem to have improved much so far this year! some very wet days on a roof for me so far!
